QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicant shall possess the certification required by the applicable rules and regulations of the Louisiana State Department of Education and/or the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education at the time that the applicant begins to hold the position. Applicant must hold a valid license to practice occupational therapy in Louisian in complinace with R.S. 37:3001-3014, ad administered by the Board of Medical Examiners. (Must have COTA License)

EVALUATOR: Pupil Appraisal & Discipline Compliance Coordinator

                      Director for Special Education

 

JOB GOAL:  To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by providing a full range of pupil appraisal services to students in need of such assistance.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1. Provide the appropriate services to exceptional students according to the multidisciplinary evaluation results and the
    decision of the IEP committee.

2. Assist in the evaluation of students suspected of being exceptional according to established criteria as stated in Bulletin
    1508. 

3. Participate in IEP committee meetings on all students requiring services and maintains an annual review of IEPs on
    students being served. 

4. Provide needed treatment according to IEP goals. 

5. Obtain orders from the student's physician prior to providing services. 

6. Participate in special education eligibility determination and IEP meetings

7. Provide necessary in-service training for school personnel and parents on topics and techniques related to the staff
    member's area of expertise. 

8. Provide supervision to the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in accordance with the guidelines of the State Board of
    Medical Examiners and the Morehouse Parish School System. 

9. Follow approved schedule as set forth in writing and approved by the appropriate authority in accordance with established
    guidelines. 

10. Keep accurate and up-to-date records, including treatment provided, progress notes, attendance, and lesson plans on all
      students served. 

11. Complete all required evaluation reports within the required timelines and established regulations. 

12. Attend professional meetings and Keep abreast of current trends, techniques, and regulations. 

 

EVALUATIONPerformance in this position will be evaluated in accordance with the parish Evaluation Plan.
